Juan Pablo Mobili


Bio: Juan Pablo Mobili was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and adopted by New York. His poems appeared most recently, in The American Journal of Poetry, Mason Street Review, Broadsided Press, The Red Wheelbarrow Review, and The Worcester Review among others. He has also received an Honorable Mention from the Creators of Justice Award by the International Human Rights Art Festival, as well as Pushcart Prize and the Best of the Net nominations for 2020. In addition to this, he published a chapbook of poems in collaboration with Madalasa Mobili, Three Unknown Poets, published by Seranam Press.

A Taxonomy of Ghosts

The building is done housing us,it breaks up in single memories,a diaspora returning to the Mother. I return to the house where I grew upto the amniotic fluid where I learned to swimthe magma playing hide-and-seekthe star on its deathbed before its core collapsed. If I was a scientist I would dedicate my workto develop a taxonomy of ghosts. a kingdom for people I losta phylum for my parentsa class for the young bodiesthat drowned or broke downunder torture and also whole species ofbirds, regrets, handkerchiefs,remains of glorious food upon old dishes,and things I never said when I could.
