Operating Theater
Because your lobes filled with calcium crystals,
black mortar, doctors clustered round
your eleventh rib,cut away flesh and fat
to remove your tainted kidney. They excised everything
that sounded like flower parts:tubules, capsules, glomerulus.
A moth-eaten calyx. Calyces.The puckered hollow
at your side still obliges my prodding child-like fingers.
